This is just a quick post about something that’s been on my mind for a while. It’s sad that there are so many preconceived ideas about YA novels, ideas that show those who speak about them, very often haven’t read any. I’m writing for adults, children and Young Adults and in one of my writer’s […]

Such a waste of tremendous talent
It is, it really is. And it’s incredible that the whole world watched and nobody was able to help.
I agree totally. Thanks for the post!
You are welcome. It’s really, really sad.
So sad đŠ She was exactly my age, which is a little weird to think about.
I see what you mean, it is weird.
It’s always sad when someone so young dies–but all the more tragic when she was so talented and was obviously battling inner demons.
There are a lot of elements that get to me in this “case”. I’m not equally affected by everybody’s early departure but this one has something so uncanny. Nobody is suprised it happened but nobody could help her.
It’s sad to watch someone on a path to destruction but not be able to do anything about it!
That’s it, exactly.
Very sad. Though I must confess I’m bursting with excitement after the finish of the Tour de France!
Yeah, well life goes on. So I gather you are a Tour de France fan?
Lets be totally honest here, Amy Winehouse was not exactly the roll model for all of the wonderful young people here in the U.K. and as for her ” talent ” that everyone keeps raving on about I think is at least very questionable ?
Let’s not hope that she was a role model, no, more something like a cautionary tale but that doesn’t change the fact that she was in pain and probably, given the possibility, would have preferred to leave this planet in a different way.
What I think is so sad is that this does NOT come as a surprise. How come no one could properly help her, when it was so painfully obvious that she was in need of help?
Exactly my point. Despite everything that has been said, I can’t help thinking that no one managed to find the right approach and that to a certain extent some people wanted her to be like this. Not much different from a gladiator. The masses cheered every time she went down.
One more name to the “died-at-27” list. She’s in good company with Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, Jimmy Hendrix, Kurt Cobain and Heath Ledger.
Such a waste for them all (and for us)
It is a waste. Sad and pointless.
I was sad and surprised…but also not so surprised. Such a shame! Thanks for the song.
I don’t know if you were able to watch the video or know it but it is eerie considering she is dead now… I hoped she would somehow get out of this… Sad that she didn’t.
I know what you mean. It was almost like watching a slow train wreck and I always root for the underdog. Such a talent and so tortured.
I find it a bit shocking that people always think it is easy to stop and addiction or that people want to be like that. The slow train wreck is how it felt… She moved and moved to her inevitable early death.
I didn’t know she died!! I am not much of her music fan but death is a sad thing even though we didn’t know much about that person.
What happened?
It doesn’t seem to be clear, she was found dead in her apartment. Since she was into drugs and drank much too much it can be assumed that her heart and body couldn’t cope anymore. An accidental overdose might also be possible. The autopsy report isn’t out yet.
It could also be because of overdose, right?
Why gifted people often fall to that kind of end…I wonder.
Yes, it sad and hard to understand. I seems though as if she hadn’t taken drugs but it is still a reaction of her body due to former abuse.
